Cranleigh Petanque Club, the new North Downs League Champions.

Cranleigh Petanque Club, the new North Downs League Champions.....

On Tuesday evening both Oxshott and Cranleigh travelled to Kirdford for the finals  of the North Downs League.
The weather report was for heavy rain, none appeared until we all went home.
There was quite a crowd of supporters who had come to watch the finals, including the Chairman and the Secretary  of the North Downs league accompanied by their wives.
The match got under way at 7.30 and we decided to play all games to the end and not to have timed games.
Cranleigh won the first two games in round one but lost the last.
In round two Cranleigh maintained the first round success by winning a further two games.
Going into round three the score was 4 - 2 to Cranleigh. Oxshott now started to play boules taking the first two games in the round. This left the last game to decide who would be this years Champions, after a slow start Joan and Ash slowly over took  David and Pam. David and Pam came back and the score was all square at 10 - 10.  Joan put in the final shots and Cranleigh took the game and match with a match score of 5 - 4 to Cranleigh.
We would like to thanks Amities Boule Club for the use of their terrain for the evening and the Foresters for supplying the soup and sandwiches after the match.
Finally we would like to thank Oxshott for a terrific final which could have gone either way at the last minute.
The trophy will be presented at the end of season melee which will be held at Cranleigh on Sunday.
