Spring News Letter

Cranleigh Petanque Club are now preparing for the forthcoming new season, over the next two months we shall be adding a new topping to our second terrain and installing the lighting to enable us to play in the evenings and take part in our league competitions.

This season begins with an Open Doubles competition on Valentine’s Day, we are hoping for 20 teams from the south to compete over 5 rounds.

This season we have joined the local North Downs 6 aside league. This involves nine games over an evening, one away and one home match every month. The opposing teams come from Oxshott, Crondall, Bordon, Kirdford, Claygate, and Basingstoke. This league was started to get new players involved in playing competitive competitions.

We shall be holding a Car boot sale at the Cranleigh Village Club on 28th March please come and support us by either running a stall or coming and buying some goods.

As a new club, we require new members to get involved in the sport. At Cranleigh we are able to offer coaching to assist members in any aspect of the sport, whether they want to play socially or to take part in regional or national competitions.

Please come and join us on Saturday mornings 10.30 till 1.30 at the Cranleigh Village Sports and Social Club, Parsonage Road, Cranleigh or contact Jeff Fox on 07710 908084. No experience necessary just come and join the fun.

Saturday in the Sun

It was good day at the club today, 9 of us spent the mornng playing in the sun with just a little cold wind.
The ladies lost the triples to the men, never mind come back and try again.
We discussed the next open (we have 9 teams pre booked so far) and organised the raffle, then went on to talk about the March Car Boot sale,
Prices for a stall will be £5 and a van £7. The sale will be 9 - 12, setting up at 8.
Anyone wanting to take part, get in touch with Lesley or Tony.
