Kent International Classic

Three of our club travelled down to Kent today to take part in the Kent Open. 44 triples teams took part from as far apart as France, Yorkshire. The setup and organisation was second to none. Pools in the morning and Knockout in the afternoon. All the time the Bar was open plus a Bar B Q was cooking burgers, sausage and Chicken kebabs. It was a time to meet old friends and make new ones. We where knocked out in the quarter final of the Bronze cup, but we can say that all of the teams that beat us today made it to the finals. Thanks Lordswood a great day

Boules on the Beach 2009

Around 24 people turned up for the annual boules on the beach at Goring, the weather again was not the best, overcast with quite a wind. We managed to play 4 full games with everyone playing good boule. During the last game I popped down and picked up fish and chips for everyone, just as the sun started to come out. The final scores where quite good. three people had 3 wins and plus 20 but they where just pipped to the post by Tony Fox from ABC with 3 wins and plus 23. The best lady was Diana from Adur both winners received a bottle of Cava. Cranleigh Petanque club received £56.00 from the profits on the day.

Our first come and try

Well today was a great success for the club. This morning the weather held fine and we where able to play until after lunch. By about 3pm it was raining stair rods and it was time to pack up. After the count, we reckon that 31 people came to try out petanque to day. Of those, 5 paid the club fees, 7 took away membership forms and 6 more said they would try again next week. We also had another donation of £100 to the club. I would like to Thank, Kim and Graham, Kath, Dan and Jan for coming along and helping out
