Secretary's Cup

Sunday saw our new committee entre the Secretarys Cup Competition, it is for all committee members of clubs who are part of the Southern Counties Petenque Association.
This year the event was held at ABC Kirdford,, 16 teams came from all parts of the region.
We entered two teams
The Cranes,  Jeff, Lesley and Simon
The Storks,  Tony, Sue and Jan
The morning session was played as a series of 4 team leagues. All teams having 3 games before lunch.
The winner teams of each league where through to the main competiton, the 2nd place entered the Plate, the 3rd placed team entered the Saucer , and finally the last place team where in the Spoon.
The Stork played in the Spoon and the Cranes made it to the Plate.
After the afternoon knock out, the Cranes where runners up being beaten in the finals by the Oxshott Team
The Storks became the friendliest team.
This was a good result for our club and I am glad everyone enjoyed themselves

Pub and Club Challenge

Well Saturday was a day to remember, 80 mph wind torrential rain and also our competition day!!
We all met up in the club at 12.45 for a 1pm start the heavens where open wide and the wind was blowing it sideways.  We sat and looked thinking it was time to call it all off. I asked for a concensor to see how everyone felt... They decided to play.
We settled for 6 teams and decided to play 3 quick games. We all donned our wet weather gear and set out to do battle. After 10 minutes it stopped raining the wind dropped and we had a great afternoons play extending the games to 4.

Re AGM

Following the AGM last night, the members selected the following new committee.

Chairman Tony ,
Hon Sec Lesley
Hon Tres Emma ,
Club Captain Jeff ,
Committee members.
Simon , Jan , Sue.

We are now to be called "The Cranleigh Petanque Club", this is because " Cranleigh RBL Club" is now to be known as "Cranleigh Village Sports and Social Club". Both the Petanque and Bowls sections will keep their names simple.

We have a little money in the bank, lots of enthusiasum to push the club forward. Our main objectives for the coming year are to promote our club and recruit another 20 members, finish the second piste, wire and fit the lighting, and build a pavillion.

Lets get everyone motivated and promoted the club and Petanque.
